Recipe

Mix two pounds of hamburger with a third of a pack of saltine crackers. Add a small chopped onion, one egg, and a half of a can of tomato soup. Spread the remainder of the tomato soup on top of the meatloaf and sprinkle with an 8 oz package of shredded cheddar. This recipe can also be made with diced green peppers. Bake at 300 for 20 more minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

A similar recipe calls for most of the same ingredients but the topping is changed. Mix a pound and a half of ground beef, an egg, a chopped onion, a cup of milk, a half-pack of saltine crackers or a cup of dried bread crumbs, salt and pepper to taste. Shape into loaf and put in well-greased pan. In a small bowl mix 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons prepared mustard and a third-cup of ketchup. Spread the mixture over the meatloaf and bake at 350 for an hour.
